NDI Output

I have been searching for a NDI player to use as an input to Wirecast. At the moment, I use VLC to output to a 2nd monitor, which I then screen capture in Wirecast.

Considering Telestream make their own player, it was previously suggested by CraigS  four months ago "We do have our own media player. Telestream Switch Perhaps if we supported NDI out it would keep the whole thing under "our roof" (our control)."

I submitted this as an idea via the web feedback portal, but I never heard anything back.

Has this been considered by Telestream, and if so - what is the expected timeline to deliver this functionality?

Make sure you put it in as a feature request with case number at this point. I do think having our own player is a good idea.

I submitted it ages ago - but I have no idea what the case number is now... But if you had an online portal where I could review tickets, that would be helpful :)

I too would love to have a media player that would interface with Wirecast. I play lots of videos, but have to use screen-capture. Perhaps Switch could use NDI to make streaming life easier? Thanks!

Ken Heron Very good request. Fill out the feature request form and include your use case example.

You know, thats not such a crazy idea. Using the strengths in competing product, to overcome the gaps in another product, and join the dots in between with NDI. I'd have to look at the UI and load implications of running both Wirecast and OBS on the same computer at the same time... but in principle, it sounds like a good alternative.

    Thanks.

So. A quick analysis after some testing.

This works... But, it requires more pre-show preparation to load all of the content into OBS - and to make a scene for each media item.

If this were available in Switch ... I am hoping it would be as simple as double clicking on a media file - and have it output to NDI automagically... without any extra preparation steps.

BUT, the OBS solution is a good workaround, until there is either a decent media player in Wirecast, or Switch gets NDI capabilities.

    Thanks.

Keep pushing the feature request in Switch and mention being forced to use a competitor to Wirecast otherwise.
