File Playback on Windows from Mac source.

Update: FYI I'm on a windows 10 PC and After converting the .mov (which was made on a mac by a friend with a couple seconds of transparency at the start and end of the video in After Effects and Premiere) to an h.264 .MP4 file of the same resolution in Adobe Media Encoder, the file will now go live repeatedly every time I hit Go.  I'm going to wager this is some kind of created-on-a-Mac vs Created-on-a-PC MOv vs MP4 codec / container format processing error that has still not been worked out in Wirecast 13. PLEASE pass this on the devs and fix this issue so that Mac-created .MOV files can play back on PC and vice versa . This is version 13 of this software We shouldn't have to be worrying about file conversions from mac to PC .Common industry standard codecs and file formats should work cross-platform all the time without fuss.

  • John Henry Dale I had to move this because it wasn't related to the thread you posted on. Support needs to follow new threads for new issues (that thread was resolved three years ago as the participants noted).

I'm sorry but the means of creation wouldn't cause a file to go live repeatedly.
If it's in Preview, hitting Go could cause the file to restart depending on your Wirecast playback settings.

That's not likely since we use our own playback engine which is cross-platform (Wirecast itself is cross-platform).

We're here to help but please don't make assumptions or conclusions about issues.

  • Sorry to disagree here,  but it was directly related the to thread I was posting in because it dealt with Media only playing one time and then not playing again. The thread dealt with that.  Also I wasn't making an assumption. I tried all solutions in that thread and they didn't work. Mine did. I was stating the results of my fix:  I converted the .mov file to a .mp4 and the issue went away. I was able to reproduce the issue with another subsequent mov file converted to .mp4. That led me to the conclusion this was related to a container format/codec issue for specific .mov files created on macs which are then used in Wirecast on Windows 10.
