Windows Wirecast Color Picker

A standard feature of just about any software that pulls up a color palette to select a color, is the ability to use a color picker or eyedropper tool to select a color from an item on your screen. I use this consistently when trying to create a color background that might match another element in a program. Would this be a feature others would be interested in? If so, let's upvote this to get it on the developer's list!

  • I think that's Mac only. I see that Wirecast seems to be using the default Windows Color Palette tool. That explains why I don't see it. Windows doesn't provide the eyedropper color picker in its color palette tool.

So the Feature Request would be to add Color Picker to Wirecast Windows. You may want to change the title of the request for clarity. Investigating Feature Request WIRE-21337

    • CraigS Thanks! Forgive my ignorance but is there a way to change the title? Or should I just make a new post?

Rich Rogers Hmm. You should be able to edit your own post. I was able to do it for you though.

  • Thanks Craig! Seems like a simple solution would be to implement the same type of color picker eyedropper that was used for the Chroma Key Properties tab.

Rich Rogers Thanks for pointing that out! Noting that to the developers.

Rich Rogers Developers note this would be very difficult to do since Windows OS doesn't offer a method to do this (unlike Mac). The workaround would be to download Windows Power Toys. This has a Color Picker. If there a lot of requests for this they certainly may consider the work.

    • CraigS Yeah, but we have very tight IT controls on our corporate computers so I'd rather not have to jump through those hoops :)

My only response would be, how did they implement it with the Chroma Key color picker? It also uses the Windows OS Color Picker.

Well, let's just hope more people find this important enough to upvote!

Rich Rogers The Chroma Key color picker is designed for 4:2:2 selection which would not work well for picking colors otherwise.
