Linkedin Live Auto-Captions

I installed the Wirecast 14.2 beta and enabled auto-captions in the output settings, then streamed to a private event on our Linkedin page, using pre-recorded media. No captions appeared when I clicked on the CC button and changed from "None" to "English."

There don't appear to be any settings in Linkedin's event setup menu to tell their platform to "expect" to caption an inbound live feed, so I'm wondering if I'm A) missing something in Wirecast, B) missing something in Linkedin, or C) I'm set up correctly, but the communication between the two isn't working.

I'm running Mac OS Catalina, if it matters.

    It may not be working in browsers yet (Linkedin issue on their end). 
    Please check on an iOS or Android device.

  • That's a good point; I was checking in-browser (Chrome 89.0.4389.128). I'll run another test on mobile and report back soon. Thanks,  CraigS

      Mark Leblang The browser issue looks to be something on their end so we checked on mobile and confirmed it's working there. Let me know and we can investigate or contact them further if it's not working on iOS and/or Android.

    • CraigS I just ran another test of this function using the 14.2 public release, and streaming a private event on LinkedIn. Auto-captions did not appear on either desktop browser OR iOS app. When I attempted to watch the stream using Chrome on my iPhone, Linkedin's response was that that function is limited to the app, and wanted to re-direct me there. Thoughts?

     Did you check that? Again this may be a LinkedIn issue they need to resolve. It may work in the App which would confirm it's their issue.

      Mark Leblang We did our own test as well. Looks like a LinkedIn bug. Please file a bug with them. It looks like a User Interface issue such that selecting English captions still remain Off.
