Screen capture latency in wirecast

I stream to youtube twice a week using wirecast 14.1.1.

I use zoom on my second monitor and use the in app screen capture, fullscreen via monitor to capture the video. In zoom there is no latency and the quality is fine, in Wirecast the video has latency and lags. I have turned off gpu acceleration, there are no frames dropped and only 15% cpu usage.

I am on windows 10, ryzen cpu, msi geforce rtx graphics card, 32gb ram. I was not experiencing this with older versions of Wirecast but I am now.

Any suggestions on where to look? what could be causing the lag? Thanks.

Please describe "latency and lags." If the audio and video are in sync it may just be the processing time on the capture. The size of the monitor can also be a factor.

Please compare to a specific version number as it might indicate if/when we made the change and whether it was on your current system.

    • CraigS ty for answering. The audio is synced but the video is as if it’s in slomo. It’s kind of blurry as well.

I’m not sure what the exact old version was I’ve had wirecast since October and kept regular updates

     I'd need a visual example.
I'd also need more details regarding the monitor you're capturing and your Wirecast Screen Capture settings.

  • Here is a screenshot of one of the screen capture settings. I use the same settings on all of them

Let me know what info would help on the monitor.

Ryan Morgan It's not clear what you're capturing. WIthout video, I can't determine what you mean by latency and lag. I'm not sure how that shot relates to Zoom. It's not clear what the monitor pixel dimensions are.

You must describe the problem in a way that we could reproduce it.

Ryan Morgan The frame rate certainly does look low
It looks like there's a chroma key.
It's still not clear what you're doing with Zoom, with the monitor size, scaling, cropping, keying. I can try to guess but you must describe in a way someone can match what you are doing. You may be taxing your system.

    • CraigS sorry im trying to explain what I can.

I added a Screen Capture to the feed. I have it set as Monitor, capture video, do not capture audio.

In Configure, I have it as Monitor 1 and Fullscreen. I then crop the fullscreen to the part I want to stream. I have 2-3 of these on each slide that I use, but only one slide at a time.

I have tried using the "selected region" function but it doesn't seem to work so I've always had to use the Fullscreen option and then size it down.

In zoom, which is being used on the second monitor, I have the different live cams which I use screen capture to bring into the feed.

The stream health stays green, it says 0 dropped frames and my cpu usage says about 15%.  I have 1 overlay on it and I use system audio to capture the zoom feed.

What is the size of the monitor?
Can you set the monitor to 1920x1080 or 1920x1200?

Perhaps this is part of the issue. It should work and might indicate something about Windows and GPU interaction. There may be an issue with the version of Windows you are running.

Please confirm you are on Windows 2004 or 20H2.
