Audio distortion upon time expand or contract of audio clips

When changing speed of an audio clip, the new clip has low grade flanging.

I have made a 10% increase in the speed of a voice narration clip on the timeline using the clip inspector and when playing it back, I hear distinct flanging in the new clip.

It appears as if the resampling of the clip is not at full accuracy (integer maybe) and there is loss that is reflected back as a flange distortion.

Using a higher resolution interpolation would correct this.

It allows a slow narrator to nominally speed up the narration to a more reasonable speed.

  • Clean "time stretching" (changing audio speed without pitch shift or distortion) can be critical when one must keep to time limits of a given segment.

Harry Whelchel Our internal reference for this feature request is FLOW-6887
It hasn't been implemented yet. Perhaps fill out the previously linked form in addition to voting. As you can see the vote total is very low so hearing directly from users might help.
