FB & YT live streaming pre-recorded file

What is the best practice on streaming prerecorded video so actual FB & YT broadcast starts exactly from beginning of the source video file (without being chopped off) and FB & YT broadcast automatically ends exactly at the end of the source video file?

  • It's not clear how you're setup.
Source Properties, enable Begin Playing when media becomes Live
It doesn't start playing until you take the shot live.
You can set When Finished Remove
But it would be up to you to end the live stream stream.
You can schedule an end time for the stream but that's not based on the duration of the file so you'd have to calculate that and the control may not be as fine as you like.
You may want to try scripting Wirecast but there's no specific "End stream when file finishes" command.

  • As I mention above you can schedule an end time.
You can always end the stream manually.
You could look into scripting but I'm not sure you'd be able to retrieve any trigger specific to the ending of file playback.

  • On our Macs, we have timers set that get the duration of the recorded file, import it into Wirecast, tell Wirecast when to begin broadcasting and when to play the recorded file. When we get the duration of the recorded video, the timers also set another timer to end the stream at the end of the recorded video playback.  We do that all with Applescript.  So basically, the entire thing is totally automated.
