Max bitrate on iOS?

Is the auto bitrate working good, or do you find you need to set a max bitrate? I’ll be streaming at 720 so I would like the phones to match that.

I’ll be using 2-3 iPhones and a video camera with a USB capture.

Thanks! Chris

  • The maximum bit rate in Wirecast Go is for RTMP live streaming only. Rendezvous bitrate is determined by the number of users and conditions server side.

It's not clear what you're doing here. Wirecast Go live stream from iOS, works as a wifi camera to Wirecast or as a wireless participant in a Rendezvous call. iOS can be connected by USB to capture its screen.

  • CraigS  I'm using the wirecast go on an iphone. I'm concerned about loading up the laptop if the bitrate is too high. In the wirecast app I can select between 20 kbits and 12000 kbits for the RMTP Video Bitrate.  I'm assuming that a lower bitrate will mean less processing for the laptop, or does that setting not affect anything when you are connecting to Telestream via WiFi and using the phone as a wireless camera?

Which can be used for live streaming directly, Rendezvous or as a Wifi Camera in Wirecast.

Maximum bitrate is only used for RTMP streaming and not for the other two functions.

Wirecast Go does not use RTMP to Wirecast on a laptop.

  • Chris Batcheller You're welcome of course. Perhaps Wirecast Go interface is confusing because it manages three different functions in one app. They may not be clearly enough delineated.

  • I would love to give you guys the rundown of things that were confusing to me.  I feel like you have a great product but the documentation and instructions are lacking. If you're interested let me know.
