Global Audio Source

Hello!  Is there an easy way to set a global audio input source?  I am inputting audio digitally via an external audio mixer and I only want to use that for all camera shots. It's for a concert program.

Thank you,

Bryan

  • Set it as a shot in a Master Layer (many use Master Layer 5 for this) and you can keep it on all the time while switching shots on other layers. If you need ride levels or add filters you can do that through the Wirecast > Window > Audio Mixer.

    • CraigS We use that workflow. And it works as long as we don't create new shots. somehow the audio shot is not selected. Not sure if this is always the case. But it is really easy to miss. We make separate audio backups for our recordings.

Being live and then glaring at the audio level doing nothing is a very painful moment! I really wish there was a way to lock a dedicated audio layer.

Please explain. Once you select the Master Layer Audio shot and take it live it should stay live as long as you don't Clear Layer in that Master Layer. We'd need to understand under what scenario it stops. A screen recording showing it happening would help.

    • CraigS If you are doing a dissolve transition will that cause the audio to fade between shots?

Bryan Farina Try Smooth transition specifically. We're doing some work in which other transitions will also crossfade audio.
