I'm keeping an eye on this.
I read that although they are transitioning over to Stream on Sharepoint, they will keep Microsoft Stream (Classic) running for a year to allow customers to migrate. I will be interested to see if or how they might change their API to accomodate and what it might mean for us. Because we use NVIDIA Graphics cards, we end up using RTMP as our destination which allows us to select the NVIDIA encoder rather than the standard encoding that is available with the Microsoft Stream encoder. -

Stream on Sharepoint,Can you point me to anything that indicates live-streaming support? It seems I'm only seeing video upload and playback rather than mentions of live streaming protocols such as RTMP or Live MPEG-Dash, etc.

Unfortunately, I can't which is something that worries me some. I can't find any reference to Live Events in relation to the new Stream on Sharepoint. I only find it in reference to Stream Classic. I was hoping that developers might have some inside information that isn't available to the public yet.

According to our Microsoft Stream expert here, Microsoft has begun the rollout of the new Stream on Sharepoint and they have told him that the Live event functionality as we know it will change. We have begun to see some changes in how teams allows us to create a live event. I'll attach screenshots as an example. Also, the RTMPS path is quite different for the new method and when I tested it with the current Wirecast Output Destinations, none of them saw this path as a valid path:
rtmps://noam.rtmpingest.mcr.teams.microsoft.com:1936/meeting/224058701144I'm hoping with this information, you can get a little insight into how it's changing.
The second option (Teams Encoder) is where it's apparently heading. This will create a Teams Style Live Event with the option to pull in an RTMP Stream from an external encoder. The address I sent you above comes from a meeting setup using Teams Encoder.
Below is a look at how the actual Teams Live event looks using Teams Encoder.
If you need any other information, let me know.

Have you tested using our generic RTMP setting and adding the path and stream key? -
Craig Kniess
Hi Craig,
I was able to test this today now that I've been granted access to the Teams Preview features. I've confirmed that there is a problem with our Microsoft Stream destination and this new endpoint. I've reported this as a bug for our engineering team to investigate.
I did confirm that I was able to stream using the RTMP server destination in Wirecast. Please note that did need to copy both the RTMP link and key from the Teams app in order for it to work.

I tried scheduling a live event in Teams using an external encoder. I had to change the destination from RTMP to Microsoft Stream, and that worked. However, the recording is then stored in Classic Stream. Not sure if this will become a problem, or if Microsoft will have a fix for this in the future.
