Screenflow 7 Inserting Audio After Video

Anytime I insert video into an existing track, screenflow inserts the video and the audio in sequence. Why does it do this? It needs to be inserted in parallel so the audio lines up with the video.

Here is a video of it happening: http://wes.io/oGsI

Sorry you're experiencing this. We changed the behavior because many users creating slide shows wanted files to be sequential (rather than layered) automatically. Of course this is not ideal for those bringing in video and audio to the time line who want them layered. We're working on giving the user an option and the change should be in an upcoming update.

But what kind of person is recording Audio overtop of a screen and wants the audio to come AFTER the video?

I should clarify - even if I drag audio and video into an existing track, it still ads the audio after my video. I need them to be sync'ed up as I would imagine every other screencast user in the world.

We're currently looking into this use case.

Is this really still an issue? Any ETA on a fix?

Wes Bos Select Video and Audio in the Media Library (shift click) and hold down Shift key when dragging to Timeline and they will be on consecutive tracks. Added with the release of 7.2. We are investigating further improvements on this though.

Wes Bos It may depend on which you select first in the Media Library.

But they are automatically selected for me when adding clips to a document - why is initially audio on top and video on bottom, but when I add a second clip, it reverses it?

Wes Bos and nothing I do seems to reverse it when dragging into the timeline.

Certainly report this. At the very least the order should either be consistent or, otherwise, user selectable.

Absolutely fill out the support form and report the incongruous behavior

  • I was never able to get the audio above the video regardless of which order I selected the assets in the media panel.

I'd love to see a global setting for this to restore the old behavior. Even when clicking "automatically add clips to timeline after recording", I'm seeing the audio clip appended after the video clip on the same track.

Andrew Mead  Please submit a feature request to control the order.
They can certainly be stacked but the order is preset. If that's not working either than perhaps you have another issue.
