Replacement for telestream episode !!!

What tools are people using for transcodes/conforms ? I was using episodes for the trickier jobs - NTSC to PAL etc but now they’ve gone and turned it into a cloud service ? WTF ?!? Yes I’ve got streamclip ,compressor & all the other basic tools but episode had some very useful tricks which the others don’t do or do as well.

  • Do you have frequent use for the most advanced functions that Apple Compressor and other low-cost tools can't handle? If the need is infrequent, the Cloud encoder may be more affordable.

Broadcast delivery and theatrical delivery are still very demanding but as progressive recording and online delivery have grown, some of the more challenging encoding tasks have become less frequent.  For those needing Broadcast level encoders, Telestream Cloud encoders or Telestream Vantage encoders do make sense.

Many NLEs and Motion Graphics programs have built-in encoder functions so appropriate sources are often generated at the point of creation.

I suspect Apple Compressor and Adobe Media Encoder cover most people's needs.
I've also known people to use Blackmagic's DaVinci Resolve for some delivery.

At this point, I only know of Imagine Products Prime Transcoder in the high-end desktop market and I'm not sure they match Episode's feature set.

  • Saffron Basketball almost all of those are focused on H.264 and H.265 and related. Episode was about higher-end delivery ranging from ProRes, DNXHD, XDCAM, IMX, Program and Transport Streams, etc, with professional deinterlacing, reinterlacing, frame rate conversion.
