Rotating Movies, gifs, images hides them

I Like to mirror some shots, which I normally do by changing the X or Y rotation but after you rotate it past 90 or -90 degrees, the image disappears.  I've tried with camera shots and gifs and have the same result.  I could have sworn I used to do this all the time on the previous version
