Borders inconsistent using NDI video sources.

We've been having a problem with the new border functionality but specifically with NDI video sources. We create a shot with a background then insert additional layers in that shot with smaller sized video sources such as a powerpoint presentation and a video feed, or a gallery style shot with 4-6 video sources. We usually build these shots in preproduction using shot templates and, in this case, I put a black border on each shot with a width of 10. Our source videos are a mix of studio cameras (via HDMI) and NDI feeds from a teams meeting.

What we have observed is that when we bring in the NDI feeds into the shot using the assign placeholder function, the borders would be much wider than the border of the shots from the HDMI feeds. They would also be inconsistent between different NDI feeds. Sometines we would have to reduce the border width to 2 in order to make it match the other borders set at 10.

I will add a screen capture here later when I can get down to the studio to pull it off of the computer.

Any thoughts or other experiences with this?

We are on Windows 10, Wirecast version 15.2.1, Teams version 1.6.00.6754.

  • Here are some screenshots. One thing I noticed when I setup this test...when I brought in the first NDI feed from the Teams meeting (the image on the left), the border actually looked correct but the moment I added the second NDI feed (Feed 2) the borders broke and the sizes changed.

    • Rich Rogers Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I did a quick test and found that the NDI signal from MS-Teams exhibited this border issue while a NDI signal from a PTZOptics camera did not. I haven't done in depth testing but it does appear to be an issue with the NDI signal from MS-Teams and how Wirecast is handling that NDI signal. I'll pass along your observation to the Wirecast for further investigation. I would also invite you to file a support ticket to help with our troubleshooting and to receive further follow-ups on this issue ( https://support.telestream.net/s/login/ ).
