Screenflow 10 wont record from camera
Downloaded the new screenflow the other day and first time using it won't record from any camera (webcam nor capture card camera)
I have all permissions correct (even screenflow helper). Double checked in
Screenflow recognizes the camera, image is there in the preview. But nothing gets recorded and the recording from the camera doesn't show up in the editor.
M1 mac mini, latest Big Sur
Tested it on Screenflow 9 and that still works. This is frustrating because the 9-version couldn't render colors correctly when exporting and now the camera doesn't work in v-10....

Hi Tommy Davidovic - sorry about the frustration this has caused you.
Would you please open the System Preferences, select Security & Privacy, select Privacy, then scroll down to the Camera privacy permissions.
Does ScreenFlow show up in there? If so, does camera recording work in ScreenFlow after unchecking and re-checking the checkbox? Restarting your machine may also help.

Hi Tommy Davidovic : Does the camera preview show up in the ScreenFlow 'New Recording' UI ? Is the issue that the camera isn't showing up after you end your recording?

yes the UI recognizes and shows my camera. However there’s nothing there when I stop the recording and goes into the editor.

A Sony a5100 with a capture card and a Logitech streamcam.
Same issue with either one.
When I use Screenflow 9 theres no issue with the cam recording. -

Simon Clarke : I don't see how that is relevant since it doesn't work with my Logitech webcam and all of the 3 different capture cards Ive tried. Plus Mike Schmitz that says the same thing.

Doesn't work for me either. Using Cascable and a DSLR, worked fine with version 9. All permissions active, restarted several times. M1 Mac Mini.

Hi, I am having the same problem.
The capture with my EOS M50 worked (and still works) fine with ScreenFlow 9, but I just paid the upgrade to 10 and it does everything described above.
- It appears in the preview when I'm configuring my recording
- It does not appear in the timeline or anywhere else after recording.
The desktop and audio are captured just fine from my screen and USB mic, just the web cam video is missing.
I am running on an M1 MacMini.

The logitech webcam goes from the cam to USB-C. Don't know what SF9/10 is, but the cam was connected through a hub. Tried it directly into the MacMini and now that works.
I also tried an older capture card that I had discarded, that connects straight into the mac. Also worked, however the dimensions of the image recorded wasn't right. Maybe a camera setting.Is there a reason for cameras not working when being connected through a hub/dock in Screenflow 10?
The 4k capture card I have is also connected like this: Mac <--- USB Cable ---> 4k Capture card <--- HDMI Cable ---> Sony a5100
Any fix for this? Besides getting a different capture card? Would a Thunderbolt 4 hub fix this?

So going through Hub seems to be the issue.

CraigS Changing the recording resolution didnt do anything. Tried both automatic (was that from the start) and 1920x1080. Still the same 1024x768.

With hub:
Logi Streamcam - recognized everywhere but doesn't show up in the timeline when finishing the recording.Directly in to MacMini:
Logi Streamcam - works as normal
ZasLuke - recognized everywhere but doesn't show up in the timeline when finishing the recording.

- Works as normal but only records in a format something like 1024x768
Note: The ZasLuke card is like a little box that cant be connected the same way the Y&H card can. The Y&H card has the USB male contact attached to it and can be plugged straight into the Mac, while the ZasLuke has a detachable USB cable that goes from MacMini to ZasLuke. -

Is it connected to Thunuderbolt3/USB-C port or USB-A port?
Can you capture to Quicktime using Movie Recording using ZastLuke?

both capture cards are through USB-A (no external power sourceThe only thing connected to a hub was the logi webcam connected through USB C port on a Lention hub. The hub is daisy chained with USB C/Thunderbolt to my Samsung ultra wide 34" thunderbolt monitor, that is connected to my MacMini with a thunderbolt cable. So the hub gets power and sends data through that.
I can capture successfully to Quicktime and Screenflow 9 with ZasLuke, Y&H as well as Logi webcam connected to both hub and straight into MacMini.
Even though the ZasLuke always was connected straight to the MacMini, I think its the same issue as the hub.

Please describe in more detail. Can you see the camera video Configure Recording but it doesn't record or are you not seeing the video at all?-
CraigS I use a Canon 70D plugged directly into my Mac Mini via USB cable. The app I use to make it a webcam feed is Cascable Pro (https://cascable.se/pro-webcam/). It creates usable video in every application (i.e. Zoom, Skype, etc.) except ScreenFlow 10. In ScreenFlow 10, it recognizes the input and shows a preview (see screenshot) but doesn't record the actual video.
This is a new problem specifically with ScreenFlow 10 and works as intended in ScreenFlow 9.

CraigS I use an app called Cascable Pro Webcam. It worked with ScreenFlow 9. As mentioned, I do see the preview just fine in the configure recording screen.
