Wirecast interfering with battery

This is AFTER I quit Wirecast. The battery stops charging and begins to discharge as I stream. I've just started having this issue with Wirecast studio, so I am not sure what the issue is.

While streaming, I'll see the "plug" icon over the battery indicating that it's charging, however, the messages in the drop-down say the battery is not charging. So, apparently, Wirecast defaults to using the battery?

My setup:

MacBook Pro 2019

Intel 8-core i9 processor

16G DDR4 RAM

AMD Radeon Pro 5000M graphics card 4G

CPU usage is normal 23% when streaming

Wirecast is the only application that is affecting the battery -

Thanks

  • Wirecast itself doesn't use much energy. Video Capture devices can be a major drain. Some Blackmagic devices can cause power drain even when the computer is plugged in to charge.

Wirecast doesn't use any resources beyond the demands on the CPU and GPU which do impact the battery and wouldn't have any impact if you quit Wirecast.

See Activity Monitor Energy Energy Impact after quitting Wirecast.
