Win10 play music locally, send out go mixer, stream mixed from mic?

Greetings,

I have a Win10 system where I want to play music on the PC where wirecast is installed.

I want to send that music out to an analog mixing board (PC speaker jack) which feeds our house audio.

A singer sings to the music played by the PC over house audio.  House audio is then run back into the PC (PC Microphone jack)  so it can pick up both the singer and the music from house audio.

How does Wirecast need to be setup so that it picks up the mixed sound coming in on the mic but does not "hear" the sound on the local PC which is causing horrible feedback?

Shots:
1. Local Desktop Capture

2. Video shot coming in from Sony Handycam (no audio, video only) via an Osprey Card in the PC

3. Mic (this is on the 2nd channel, the one right below the video/desktop capture channel).

This is going to capture the computer audio including anything you're monitoring which can create feedback. It's not clear what you're using it for though.  You don't mention capturing any video files or web browsers or program windows nor any computer audio Wirecast would be capturing.

  • Thanks Craig.

In the case of the specific situation I want to solve: the shots in use would be the video and audio /mic shots.  Desktop capture is a shot in the Wirecast settings currently loaded but is not in use in this scenario.

Digital music is being played on the same PC where wirecast is installed.  It is being played out over the speaker connection to an analog mixer which then plays to house speakers.

The singer is singing to that digital music into a house mic which routes to the analog sound board and the analog sound board is connected to the PC

Video (of the singer) is coming in through the capture card but we don't capture audio this way.

(the facility is small enough there isn't any lag introduced by audio and video feeding separately).

The Desktop Capture is for other scenarios and is never livestreamed in the above digital music / singer streaming scenario but once you introduce the desktop capture as a shot then, of course, the trouble begins.  Is there a way to turn off all audio capture in desktop capture-- only capture the screen(without audio)?

  • Thanks.  I tried this with a lot of permutations... capture system audio on/off , monitor on/off .

By the time I put up the house audio high enough to get good sound from the performer , the music playing back through the house audio speakers starts generating feedback.

With Capture System Audio OFF , Monitor OFF

House mics on (plugged into PC Line In)

Computer playing out via house speakers (speakers OUT)

I get horrible feedback as soon as you can hear the  performer on the house mics.

Is it just not possible to play the audio from the same computer where wirecast is running (Wirecast is capturing Line In)?

If you use speakers and mics in the same room, the feed into the mics will generate feedback. Mics must be isolated from speakers.

If you capture system sound and monitor you will create feedback. If you have speakers in use as the same room as speakers you will create feedback.

You can use the computer to play music as long as you carefully setup how you monitor or send music through your computer's sound system. This also means knowing how to set Windows System Sound Settings.

Wirecast may use the same sound output as the music playing in your system so you have to be familiar with how to isolate them in the computer.
