Narration/Screennotes Hidden After Screen Capture Taken

I think we need to have a way to designate a narration notes pane as hidden.

Ie. can't do a screencapture now w/o showing the narration/screennotes - would be VERY HELPFUL if the notes were designated on another layer, so that we could set it's opacity to zero in the final product & thus just the desktop would be seen in final video.

And just in case you're wondering, blurring them out is not going to cut it ;)

I'd like to help but I'm not sure what you're referring to. I don't know of any ScreenFlow feature that would be narration notes. You may need to describe in a way someone could duplicate your setup.

  • Well, here is a typical scenario that I would like Screenflow to allow:

    - Do a full desktop screen capture, with my narration notes on the desktop.

    - Have a way during record setup to indicate that the window w/ my notes is for 'Narration', sim. to the way you setup other video sources.

    - After screen capture is done, the 'Narration' window can be targeted separately from the desktop & the narration opacity can be set to 0, thus hiding it.

Currently have to record narration separately & then try to match it up to captured desktop - not easy to do & it always requires a ton of additional work due to things not syncing up.

My suggestion would be to put notes on a second monitor or tablet.

The OS may not support this. Keep in mind that ScreenFlow is dependent on the OS GPU relationship. This is why we can have such features such as Callout Foreground Windows and Mouse Cursor control. Keep in mind if something isn't a Foreground Window (the Notes wouldn't be if you're doing other work on the desktop) then it doesn't even have those separation features.

LP  can log the feature request but keep in mind we may be limited by the OS.
Currently, I think the best solution is my initial suggestion.

  • Example in which Foreground Window can be zoomed which covers my notes on the left. Note can't be zoomed because they aren't Foreground.
