Rendezvous Scaling Issues
I'd love to replace using Skype with Rendezvous for our mutli guest Facebook Live show. Here are the problems I'm still having:
-Resolution of guests in Wirecast: Guests calling in with Macbook pros still have a milky, grainy quality to them. Even with speeds of 50mb down and 10mb up. Also, I had a scaling issue with someone using an iPhone 6s--the feed came into Wirecast very small--I had to scale up 400% to fill the screen and it was too pixelated to even make out an image. There seems to be inconsistency in the size that the video comes in to Wirecast (even though 1920x1080 webcams are being used).
-Usability on the user end: For the user, the video images are way too small for them to be usable. Is there way for this to look more like Skype or Zoom? Where they can scale the other participants to a size where they can see them? Right now there is a ton of gray space on the interface and a tiny little video image of the person they are communicating with.
-As the producer of the show, I'd like to see a video and audio mute button that I can use in from the Rendezvous Dashboard within Wirecast. That way I can chime in when I need to, but mute when needed as well.
The developers were concerned about bandwidth considerations so the resulting Rendezvous sources often need to be scaled in a 1920x1080 canvas and even in 1280x720. I usually don't have to scale 400% though. It's more like 150%.
In this example from my iPhone 7 to Wirecast 8.1.1 with Canvas set to 1920x1080 It fit perfectly. I do think the results can vary though and it's somewhat unpredictable.
My iPhone was pointing to a computer monitor.Reply

That's a good idea.
LP will document the feature requests regarding scaling and the mute buttons.Reply
Canvas Size 1080p?
It may mean your camera is coming in at 640x360.
Any other devices on the Rendezvous call?
iOS 11.1.2 or earlier version?
Wifi or LTE connection?
If Wifi any other activity on your network beside the phone and live stream (such as someone transferring files or web browsing).
Can you take a picture of this?
Your iPhone camera should either be full screen or an inset depending on which you click on.Reply
